Stalsmidjan – Framtak ehf. is a company that has been around since 1933, offering a range of services and solutions in the machine, shipping and metal industry. It specializes in ship repairs and conversions, and was the first to build a steel boat in Iceland in 1955. It also operates its own slipway in Reykjavík Harbour and a carpenter’s workshop, as well as providing services for hydro electric and steam turbine power stations. In 2000, it bought the company Blossi hf, and established the daughter company Framtak-Blossi ehf. which provides diesel-tuning and automotive workshops, and is authorized as "Bosch Diesel Centre" in Iceland. In 2006, Stalsmidjan bought all shares in Framtak and Framtak-Blossi ehf., and in 2013 the two companies merged as Stalsmidjan – Framtak ehf.
